Trans Municipal Surface Water Supply Scheme for Titagarh and Khardah Municipalities

Titagarh and Khardah Municipalities situated in North 24 Parganas district in the eastern bank of River Hooghly is old municipal towns covering about 10.51 sq. KM . In absence of suitable surface water source the municipality is totally dependent on Ground water source and the citizens on an average receive 66 lpcd water prior to taking up the project. The slum population is about 37 % and they receive even less water. The Ground water source is vulnerable both regards to quality and quantity and the problems are frequent leakage and defective alignment in existing pipe, wastage of water, frequent power cut and low water table for DTW.
