Integration of Maheshtala UGR with the existing Water Supply Network of KMW&SA

Mahestala Municipality in South 24 Parganas of West Bengal is one of the growing regions located on East Bank of River Hooghly and situated at a distance of 12KM from B B D Bag. The Municipality had been formed in the nineties of the previous millennium and is presently the second largest municipality in south Bengal.
The municipality covers an area of 42sq.km and it comprises of 35 wards out of which in the present project 21 wards have been integrated with the existing 5 MG capacity UGR at Dakghar, Mahestala. The UGR is being fed from the surface water treatment plant at Garden Reach. The 21 wards being covered under the this project is presently being served through large dia deep tube wells which will be turned over to surface water supply.

5.021 lakhs (Year 2015) in 21 wards covering 30.72 sq.KM
Components of the proposed Scheme
  1. Laying of different dia DI pipelines ranging from 250mm to 600mm with a total length of 24 KM.
  2. Jack pushing works under South Eastern railway lines at 6 locations
  3. Connection to existing pipelines
  4. Installation of Water Meters

  • Per capita supply 135 lpcd
  • Stoppage of Ground Water exploration
  • Provision for Fire Fighting & 35% UFW.
  • 85% population coverage.
